the reason I ask is becuase something was missing from my trunk. I left a large suitcase in the trunk of my car, and I discovered it was missing today. I looked all over my house, but i dont think it took it in there. I am also missing my karate gloves (i keep them in there for a karate class i take), which i kept in the front seat console. I am asking because I am wondering if someone broke into my car, stole the gloves, popped the trunk, stole the suitcase, closed the car up, and ran. is there any way to break into a car without showing any damage? if someone used a coat hook (my car is pretty crappy and old) and popped the lock without me knowing? i dont know what happened to it, but someone probably broke into my car!!! please help! thanks!
btw i am not asking this question becasue i want to BREAK INTO a ford taurus. I own one, and i am wondering if you CAN break into one easily without showing any real damage? is there any real way i can tell!? thanks!
I practiced Ed Parker’s Kenpo karate for about 4 years and then Tae Kwon do for about 4 before coming to Japan. In Japan, I’ve been doing light contact karate that my teacher calls sundome for about 2 years and I still can’t get it right!
I’ve improved a lot, but every time I spar, my teacher says I’m punching or hitting too hard. When I try pulling my punches he says they are too slow and sloppy. He somehow wants me to throw punches at full speed, no power and somehow lightly tap my opponent without injuring him or her. All without wearing gloves or any type of pads. I broke one of the other students nose once by trying this. It sounds crazy to me, but my teacher says that’s what makes it difficult. You have to control your speed and power.
I’m used to actually hitting my opponents and not worrying too much about hitting them too hard. Of course even in America we had rules like no hitting below the belt, neck or back but these rules take it a step further. Even strong body shots are a no good!
I think this style is closely related to shito-ryu if that helps.
Does anyone have any advice for me?
Thanks for the advice but I feel a little bad leaving my school for another. I’ve also become friends with my teacher. We hang out a lot and go drinking together. I recently just got my blackbelt as well, first degree. He has high hopes of my passing on his style to future generations. Apparently, judo’s popularity and Olympic event status is starting to really hurt karate in Japan. Every year more and more young people choose judo over karate from what my teacher tells me. Besides, there aren’t any kyokushinkai dojos near me. I live in a small town.
Oh and as for the light contact, he says I actually have to touch my opponent. Stopping a few inches away from their face or body doesn’t count.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll keep thinking about it. Oh and by the way, my style is called Hakushinkai. Ever heard of it?

I often find that when I am required to wear gloves when I am sparring in my (karate) class, I can’t do as well – I’m a lot slower and hesitant in my attacks, because I’m not allowed to actually hurt the person… unlike in street fights/fights outside of class, where I don’t have to worry about injuring them, and I can do whatever combos I like. Also, I’m a lot faster as well. Sometimes we spar without gloves in class, but there are still rules we have to abide by such as no breaking bones or blows to the face… I feel that I’m limited by this, and thus I usually do poorly in such, because I’m left wondering, Oh, here I could trip them and follow up with a punch directly to the face… but I’m not allowed to. Any advice for those who have had to go through this? I know, some of you will yell "McDojo!" because it’s not full contact or because we have to wear gloves occasionally, but it’s not like we can have students killing other students. And we are a traditional goju ryu dojo, just to let you know.
Okay The Glockbrothers our not really talking about bare hand bear fighting, but we our talking about Tactical Gloves. We talk a little bit about different type and what not. See what you think and leave some comments about your favorite gloves.
Has a boxer ever suffered death from an untimely punch to the chest? Or do gloves prevent such a thing from happening? What about Kyokushin Karate? It seems that a sport like that would have a tremendous risk of Commotio Cordis occurring.
